My magazine must fit not only the type of sub-genre of magazine I'm creating, but also what my target audience wants. Also the typical codes and conventions of the type of magazine I wish to create. The type of font and style I want for my magazine is to be a neat, tidy look, with a simple but edgy font. The magazine on the left is a good example of the type of font, and style I want to recreate. The style of the fonts, are organised and placed well. We can clearly see the masthead in the corner. Then you can see the main cover-line in the middle of the page, big, neat and well presented looking well with the magazine. The colour scheme also fits in with the type of magazine I want to recreate, it has the darker colours and you can see immediately what type of magazine it is. The magazine cover is also in capital letters, fitting in with the genre of music it is, but also catching the readers attention and making them look at the magazine.
The double page spread on the left fits into some of the things, I want to feature in my magazine the main image, stands out. As well as the pull quote on the top of the magazine. The colour scheme features darker colours, however also has a neat, high-quality look to it. The main image features one of rocks most notorious people, again showing that the magazine is about being up to date, and of a high quality. I want my magazine to have these sort of characteristics. The font is also matching with the type of look I want, I want the magazine to have a neat look to it, and the text to be in capital letters. I also want a even mix of both images and text, throughout my double page spread. The magazine cover I have included is a good example.
The contents page of the left, is a idea of the magazine contents I want to create. You can see the logo in the top left corner, to represent the magazine, which is what I want to do. The headings are easy to see, and includes articles from the most famous rock/indie acts. The colour scheme is also what I want to feature in my magazines. It has a black, red, and white dominate theme throughout. The magazine also has other smaller images of what else is included in the magazine, this is what I want to include in my magazine. I need to cater for my target audience overall.
A good summary but it lacks detail Beth.
ReplyDeleteYou need to talk about the type of fonts (serif or sans serif etc), the sizes and variety.
